Trauma‑Informed Routines
Trauma‑informed routines give K–12 students a clear, predictable structure throughout the school day. When daily schedules and transitions follow consistent patterns—and adults reinforce those patterns reliably—students feel safer, more regulated, and more ready to learn.
Why This Matters
Students who have experienced trauma rely heavily on predictability. When routines shift unexpectedly or vary from classroom to classroom, students experience uncertainty and stress. Trauma‑informed routines reduce this uncertainty by helping students understand what to expect and how the day will unfold.
A safe, emotionally supportive school environment begins with routines that are steady, consistent, and developmentally appropriate.
