Learn More — Student Safety & Belonging Workbook

for Middle School Advisory, SEL, and Safety Culture

The Student Safety & Belonging Workbook gives middle school students a clear, supportive way to understand safety, relationships, and their own emotional world. Designed for advisory, SEL, and schoolwide safety culture, this workbook helps students build the real‑world skills they need to navigate conflict, ask for help, and stay grounded when situations feel confusing or overwhelming.

Instead of focusing on fear or compliance, the workbook centers on belonging, voice, and predictable adult support. Students learn how safety works at school, how to recognize what their feelings are telling them, and how to use simple tools to stay connected, calm, and confident.

Inside the workbook, students explore:

  • What safety looks and feels like in everyday school life

  • How to understand and name their emotions in a developmentally appropriate way

  • How to build healthy relationships with peers and trusted adults

  • How to navigate conflict using calm, predictable steps

  • How to ask for help early—before a situation becomes bigger or more stressful

  • How to use their voice to express needs, set boundaries, and seek support

  • How the H.E.L.P.™ steps work in real‑world situations, without fear or pressure

Each activity is designed to be practical, reflective, and trauma‑informed—helping students feel seen, supported, and capable. The workbook also reinforces a core message: students are never expected to handle safety or big emotions on their own. Adults are there to guide them, listen to them, and help them make sense of what they’re experiencing.

The Student Safety & Belonging Workbook strengthens school culture by giving students shared language, shared expectations, and shared confidence—building a community where every student feels connected, capable, and worth protecting.
